Part of the Collective Motion series
Stainless steel
Approximately 95 cm diameter
Suitable for indoor or outdoor display
A Common Rhythm brings together a richly layered shoal of stainless-steel fish in a continuous circular flow. Developed from my Shoal Circle design, this variation introduces a greater number of fish, with contrasting sizes, shapes and surface patterns creating a fuller, more intricate composition.
Each fish retains its own character while contributing to the rhythm of the whole. The work explores the relationship between individuality and belonging: how different forms can move together, finding connection through a shared direction.
Light catches the patterned surfaces and curved bodies, shifting across the sculpture as the surroundings and viewpoint change. The open centre provides a moment of stillness within the movement of the shoal.
Suitable for a private home, garden or corporate collection, A Common Rhythm creates a distinctive focal point while inviting closer attention to the individual fish and their details.
This version of A Common Rhythm forms part of a variable limited edition of 10. Each sculpture within the edition shares the same overall scale fish composition but is individually made and arranged by hand. Subtle variations in the fish, positioning and finish give every sculpture its own character while retaining the identity of the edition.
Versions that differ significantly in scale or composition will form separate editions within the wider series. Each edition will have its own clearly defined limit and numbering.
Every sculpture is signed and numbered. The sculpture offered here is the exact piece shown in the photographs and is numbered 2/10.
